Media Center Hours

Useful Information

1. Students may check out materials for two weeks at a time.  Items may be rechecked as long as there is not a waiting list for them.

2. Each student may check out two books, unless more are needed for an assignment.

3. An overdue fine of 5¢ per school day accumulates for overdue items.  This fine stops accumulating when an item is checked in, rechecked, or paid for if lost.

4. Accelerated Reader titles have red dots on their spines and have reading levels and point levels written inside their front covers.

Computer Use

1. Students may only use the Internet if there is a signed permission form on file for the current school year.

2. Students may only use the Internet for approved school research.

3. Students may print information from the computer for school for 5¢ per black-and-white page and 25¢ per color page.

4. No more than two students are allowed at each computer at once.

5. No student should change any of the settings on school computers.

Accelerated Reader Program - 8th Grade Students are required to participate in the Accelerated Reader Program as part of their English class requirements.  Each student is given the STAR Reading Test at the beginning of the school year to determine the optimum reading range for that student.  Students are then required to read at least 3 books each grading period. The books must be within the students recommended reading range and on our school's list of AR titles. They must then pass an AR quiz with at least 70% accuracy for each of the 3 books.
